Eli Freud

1914 Triest - 2010 Jerusalem
Born as Elio Freud June 14, 1914 in Triest as son of Arthur Freud, secondary school teacher, editor of the Wiener Morgenzeitung and central European deputy to Keren haYesod, and Stephanie Freud, musician, conductor, composer. First piano studies with Walter Taussig and Walter Robert Spitz, 1929 oboe with Alexander Wunderer, conducting with Joseph Krips at the Wiener Musikakademie, 1937 honors oboe diploma. 1938 flight to Prague, where he earned a living as music arranger for dance bands, 2nd oboe player in the FOK (radio orchestra), pianist in folk music groups. 1939 with SS Galilea to Palestine, surviving with popular music (among others 'Eli Freud and his Swing Sextet'), as accordeonist, pianist, saxophonist, 2nd oboist PBO (Palestine Broadcasting Orchestra) during a tour to Egypt, as a music instructor, composer and editor of accordeon music. 1955 Eli Freud founded the Israel Bach Society; 1961 assistant librarian, later on head music library KOL Israel Orchestra (radio orchestra) Jerusalem. Lecture-performances with Jewish music abroad, 1967 répétiteur Hessischer Rundfunk in Frankfurt am Main, from 1971 on international career as organ player, 1975 teaching positions at Konservatorium Cloppenburg, 1981-87 University Bielefeld, Osnabrück, music director Bielefelder Kammerorchester and Kammerchor. Since 1990 music director of the Jerusalem Chamber Orchestra ( with russian immigrants). Eli Freud passed away February 2, 2010 in Jerusalem. Update Primavera Driessen Gruber August 10, 2015
